Spring Chinook
Spring chinook trips on the columbia and willamette rivers start in mid march and run thru mid june. Spring chinook are highly sought after for their fabulous flavor on the dinner table. They are very high spirited and a strong fighting fish. Call early to reserve a spot.
Fall Chinook
The Fall Chinook season runs from early August thru September on the lower Columbia and Buoy 10, From October thru December I move to Tillamook Bay for the larger 10-60 lb. King Salmon. The average fish in this bay runs anywhere from 25-45 pounds.
Sturgeon
RBV Adventures fishes the Columbia and Willamette Rivers for sturgeon all year round. The upriver oversize are a great time May-July.
The lower columbia in Astoria, Oregon has a great migration of sturgeon. If you are looking for a keeper sturgeon, that will taste absolutely fantastic, book a trip during the months of April thru July.
Steelhead
Randy targets the returning Native Steelhead on the lower John Day River off the Columbia. These fish are fantastic fighters, but do have to be returned to the water. After catching a few of the non-keepers, we will go to the mouth of the Columbia and try and get a few returning hatchery fish for the table. We fish for these chrome bright fighters Dec-Feb.
Shad
Shad trips are May-June on the Columbia and Willamette rivers. These trips are great for kids and people who just love to catch a lot of fish. Your arm will get tired catching these hard, fighting fish on lighter gear. Great weather is usually a plus for these trips.
Crab
Crabbing is usually very good during the Fall Chinook season in both the lower Columbia in Astoria and Tillamook Bay. RBV Adventures can throw up to six commercial pots to soak and catch dungeness crab while we are out catching salmon August-Dec.
